The
Mighty Yachtie now is a mighty calypsonian.
It's true. ..Smitty, known for his famous calypso, "Call
Jesse" which debut with great excitement at the Taste of Carnival
presentation in 2002, and his other calypso "Life on the Hard"
which premiered at the Taste of Carnival -2003, now has put together a new CD;
Calypsos for Cruisers, for all to enjoy. Not only has he shown his
skill with clever lyrics and melody; but plays all the accompanying on
instruments including pan, duddup, guitar and percussions with his wife Susanne
Jackson Smith as background singer.
Cruisers
throughout the Caribbean will thoroughly enjoy this CD which describes the life
style of the yachtie humorously relating the sailing and living situations of
everything from sea to land adventures.
The
Mighty Yachtie, alias Smitty, first touched base in Trinidad on his sailboat s/v
Sarah Noble in 2000, initially playing tenor pan with the Silver
Stars, followed in subsequent years playing with the Invaders. Smitty has
competed in every Panorama competition since 2001.
