Behind the Music
I Like That – I wrote this song 2005 as a duet but could never find a woman whose voice matched mine so in 2009 I decided to sing it myself and add it to the album. This song is about my relationship with my wife, Susanne.
Mother Nature’s Revenge – Mother Nature never seem to cooperate with a cruiser’s schedule, especially when it comes to trying to get a coat of varnish down. I wrote this one day after being frustrated with rain ruining my varnish job.
Nagigator – A friend of mine used this term once to
describe his wife’s constant comments on his handling of his boat. It became a common term whenever we went
boating.
Old Age Full Of Sound Effects – A true story. My aunt used to tell me, “Old Age ain’t for sissies”. She used to moan and groan with every move she made. When I was young I thought it was funny but as I got older I began to realize that she was right and I found myself moaning and groaning with each movement also. Finally I made a promise to myself No Sound Effects.
St. Vincent Grenadines – I was totally awed by the islands in the Grenadines and they inspired me to write this song. The Grenadines was one of the nicest places we visited while cruising the Windward Islands. There are about 32 islands in the Grenadines but not all are accessible by boat. Even then we did not visit all that were accessible but I wrote on each island that we did visit.
The Best Thing In My Life – I wrote this song for my wife for our thirtieth wedding anniversary. An expression of my feelings and my love for her.
The Jenny B M – This song is a dedication to some very dear friends of mine in Trinidad with whom we have spent many wonderful times liming (hanging out) on their boat “The Jenny B M”.
The Tobago Cays – Anchoring behind horseshoe reef and having the full effects of the wind while being protected by the seas is an awesome experience. Snorkeling with the turtles and on the many areas of the reef was a highlight of our trip to the St. Vincent Grenadines.
Tom, The Sailorman – This is a true story about a cruising friend of mine, Tom on the sailing vessel “Jean Marie”. While cruising in the waters of Trinidad, Tom was always willing to provide help and advice in getting some of my boat problems solved.
Working For The FBI – This song was derived from the punch line of the joke. I applied the punch line to some of my working experiences where at times I felt it was quite appropriate.
